Less than the day after the official release of the Nintendo Switch 2 dashboard, the potential hole is detected in its system. This has been reported by the hardware of the information portal related to IB-RESAARCH, David Buchenen, who announced the results on the Bluesky platform.
The vulnerability is revealed by experts related to the response programming (ROP) and affects the Console program library. The nature of the ROP attack is the attacker who can control the performance of the code without direct introduction, but use the existing segments in the device's memory. In the exploitation example presented by Buchenen, it allows you to display an image in the form of a chessboard on the screen. However, the attack is limited by the user level and does not affect the core of the operating system.
According to the researcher, the exploitation does not pose a practical threat-can not get the original access, change the cartilage or launch third-party applications. Moreover, there are no specialized tools, visual effects may be confused with conventional animation, Buchenin noted.
