Many of the original prototypes of the game are very different from what developers have finally stopped. One of the prototypes focused on psychological horror, where the players will have to fight the hallucinations in the mysterious castle. And the other is a dynamic action film focusing on trendy battles in close fighting. Later was considered too similar to Resident Evil … and later they implemented an independent project from there – Devil May Cry.

    Many games fell into blood pressure produced during the later production phase due to its ambition to cut neck and continuous development scale. For this problem, a separate term even invented – Creep feature. Among the relatively recent examples, you can immediately name Cyberpunk 2077: It is very serious about the fact that developers continuously add new mechanics without polishing the old ones. And Star Citizen has been developed since 2012, but due to the increasing planning of mechanics, the game has not left the Alpha stage.

    The game industry constantly changes and develops in many different directions. The development groups now more than before, AAA-Bujeter is higher than ever and the expectations from modern games are developing with each new generation of gaming devices. Even independent games are now forced to comply with more serious standards: Deltarune and Hollow Knight: Silksong are so large games that fans have been waiting for their departure for many years.

    The development of modern projects requires time and resources, but the increased requirements for these factors are one of the main reasons why games fall into production hell. Due to the bloating budget, each AAA release must fight against money, and some studios like to avoid risks by spending many years for perfection. Metroid Prime 4 was presented recently: Beyond stayed for nearly two years before the project was restarted under the leadership of another studio. Nintendo said that the rearrangement of personnel occurred due to the fact that the first version of the game did not meet the quality standards of the publisher.

    Many projects become victims of a sudden change of creative course in the middle of development, because some innocent publishers try to participate in current trends. Skull and Bones from Ubisoft began to develop in 2013 as Assassin Creed IV: Black Flag MMO-OFF, but in the end, the work lasted 10 years in the game processing errors and continuous scripts, as well as trying to balance the game around the idea of ​​a direct service. The pursuit of the trend is also killed by Concord, Redfall and Suicide Squad: Kill the Judicial Federation.

    But this does not mean that before the perfect game industry, the only difference is 20-30 years ago, information about the development of games with fewer people. Today, the public has more resources. We know about the development stories of old games, canceled projects and upcoming releases. Many independent developers have been actively divided by their projects with social networks.

    In addition, the game press also develops. If earlier, most, it is limited by the reviews and information from the presentations for the press, now most major media have direct access to speakers from the industry. In addition, independent projects to preserve old games and gaming historians have been able to reveal a lot of information about the development of classical games.
