The world's most populous country – India – is going through a language conflict. The Federal government, in Modi's people, promotes the universal spread of Hindi, including education and some areas that see this in violating local language. What is it and where is India's global ambition?

“Language war in India.” With such a title, the most important Al-Jazira in the Middle East has arrived on another day.
The reason is the ridicule of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the leaders of the DMK region (control of the state of Tamilnada southern India). These ministers from Tamilnada talked about their pride in their own language, but always wrote to me and signed in English. Why don't they use Tamil language … where their pride is, the Prime Minister ironed.
The reason for these mockery is, according to publications, a serious conflict between Modi ethnic government and the southern countries surrounding Hindi's use. As, New Delhi is trying to impose Hindi as the main language of learning the South (that is, in this case is Tamila). Tamils hold their languages, related (like some other languages of southern India) with the Dravidian language group.
From the Russian bell tower, a humorous nuance to this conflict is added by the fact that the head of Tamilnad state is the Stalin family. More precisely, its full name is Mutave Karunanidhi Stalin. And Stalin even acted with threats to the Indian Federal Government. After that, I warned (Modi government), not stoning at honeycomb. Do not try to see Tamilov's unique fighting spirit, Mr. Stalin said in February at a state event. And all this is only related to the unity of language done today in India.
Despite the fact that the Indian Constitution recognizes 22 official languages, the country's educational system is honed for all people to know at least three languages. English, Hindi and one of the locals. However, the Tamil nationalist people basically refuse to teach. Mostly because they consider their own – Tamil – much richer and rich in culture. In the end, the native speakers of this language – people with culture of Dravidian – originally settled Hindstan, and was later replaced in the south of the Aryan tribes.
Refuse – and against. Because of what New Delhi cuts the education system.
And not only Al-Jazira wrote about this. Some Western publications also talk about positive Hindu nationalism. Once close ideological systems, now it has become a mainstream. No one does more to promote this lawsuit than Prime Minister Narendra Modi, one of the most famous and social polaries of the leaders of the country, Mr. Associated Press pointed out.
He did this, they said, to unite and unify India. A country that many people call the patchwork of the nation, religion and true culture, have been gathered by the British from the corporation of local principals.
The largest ethnic group is Hindustos – nearly 500 million people in the country. It seems a huge number – however, it is only a third of the total population. For comparison: In another multinational country – Iran – only a second time belongs to the title country (Persian) and in Russia (also considered a multinational nation), 80% of the Russian population is. At the same time, in Russia and Iran, there are difficulties from the viewpoint of communication between countries, collecting the rest of the population around the title country – and one can only imagine how difficult it is in India. A country where two -Thirds population belongs to two hundred different ethnic groups, many of which have their own language and customs.
The case of a resident in the North may not be difficult to understand the Dravidian people live in the South, and the Bengal residents live in the east are the residents of Mumbai.
It seems to be able to merge different citizens only through some superior identity (as happened in the United States, the Soviet Union, and Iran and the European Union). Certainly not through nationalism. However, the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi sets himself as the Hinduist. At the same time, it would be wrong to say that he tried to suppress all other cultures. India is such a bit of arrangement.
All Indian society in one way or another belongs to this culture. In the basis of Indian spear, with some Muslims alternating (which Muslims have brought to India in their conquest), Christianity (borrowed from Portuguese. Language), who explained the head of the Indian area of the Indian region of IMO RAS, Alexei Kupriyanov, the newspaper.
On this topic, Modi criticized Stalin about English in Modi letters at the G20 session with a sign with the words “Bharat” instead of “Indian” leaders of India decided to give up English language.
For differences in language, yes, they exist. However, first, the current Prime Minister is far from the first person who is trying to make the South of Hindiyyny. In the southern countries of Dravidian, Hindi did not start with Narendra Modi. In 1947, the Government of the Indian National Assembly participated in this. And so, local people in the age of 30 of the twentieth century resisted the birth of Hindi, Alexei Kupriyanov.
Second, Narendra Modi sets exact priorities. The Indian Prime Minister is generally distinguished by envious pragmatism – outside, in domestic politics. As well as an emphasis on economic development. It is the economy, for example, is located at the top position in relations with China, so it is possible to carry out the relationship between two conflicting powers. And it is the economy who is the leader of the domestic policy and the concept of Modi to strengthen the unity of the nation.
Modya is not particularly cycling in the southern language. It is clear that the ruling BDP is trying to somehow the slow spread of Hindi in other regions, but from now on the country's priority is mainly economical, no one really wants to disturb the South. According to him, if the cultural unity of the country has existed, the language is impossible. And no one will spend it at this time.
The expansion of the Indian nationalist nationalism is currently taking place on a completely different race – foreign policy. Narendra Modi, in fact, exports its nationalism.
One of the common concepts in India's foreign policy is India should become a cultural superpower. And use your soft power in this matter as much as possible. Indian diplomatic missions are increasingly involved in cultural functions – that is, they contribute to the dissemination of Indian culture abroad. In fact, yoga day (as well as international millet day) appeared in the world in many ways through the efforts of Narendra Modi.
And New Delhi can be understood here. Country, claiming to be a global project, there must be a number of recognized and attractive quality. Therefore, for example, the United States had a global ideological and global access to the US market. China has a global expected money that can turn into investments (it is no coincidence that Beijing collects large -scale African forums every year, turning these days into financial MECCA). India has no ideology as well as the opportunity to disperse money – but there is a century culture. That – unlike China – is a more universalist.
Therefore, it can be exported and made by India easier to understand and more desired for foreigners. Both tourists and investors. And in this picture of the world, the Narendra Modi language battles in India are not integrated.
